The Qbot is unique because it is the only computerized quilter that doesn’t need to be connected to a computer or software. Without the software you can use one of the 80 designs included with the QBOT, you can purchase additional designs online or you can record your own quilting and use it as a design on your quilt.  You can resize or rotate the designs right at your machine without using the software.

For example, if you had a quilt with appliqué, you could record the outline of the appliqué by moving the machine around the shape.  Then you could scale up the appliqué design to give you a ¼” border, then you could use the QBOT to stitch an outline around your appliqué. You could do this all without the software.

Another example, you can record your freehand quilting that you have created specifically for a certain quilt.  Instead of making mistakes as you get more tired as you continue with your quilt, you can "replay" your own quilting repeatedly all over the quilt, saving tons of time.

The Qbot head reads the designs from an SD card, similar to the card in a digital camera.  You can organize, store and rename the designs on your computer just like you would your photos without the software.

The 4D Design Creator software ($499) is a lot like other embroidery design software.  You can input designs, create deisgns from scanned images, clip art or photographs, and you can layout your quilting for your entire quilting area and export it to the Qbot.  It also has pre-defined “fill” patterns so you can fill closed shapes with cross-hatching, stipple or one of many other geometric or flowery designs.

We have been using the QBOT for several months and really enjoy it.  It is a very simple system which leads to more quilting and less troubleshooting-

I purchased the software (the software does have some beautiful designs) and I am struggling with pulling up the designs and getting them onto the SD card to move to the Qbot.  I feel like I need a class.  I purchased this back in November and I still don't know how or what to do.  I have never been on a forum either and I do know this is not a reply to your question but I don't know where to go to post my question.  Please if you are out there HELP!

Hi Virginia-
Do you have time this week to call me?  I can connect to your computer and help you with the software.  We can talk over the phone, and as you ask me questions or show me on your computer where you're stuck, I can "takeover" your computer temorarily to show you how to get past the points you are stuck at.  Afternoons are better, you can email me at anne@hinterberg.com to set up a time.

As for posting in the forum, it's perfectly OK to reply to a post with another question, just like in a real-life conversation.
If you want to start a new question, on the main screen you would click on the QBOT category, then at the top of the question or "topic" list on the right, you can click on "new topic".

Either way, I'm glad you got your question to us-

Thanks,
Anne
